Design-Build
of Rack Supported
Cooler and Dry Storage Facility
Client Problem:
A rapidly expanding cheese producer in Central California needed to add new cooler and dry storage space. Local codes would not allow for a structure on this parcel of land. On the recommendation of a cold storage specialist, Applied Handling was asked to prepare a design-build proposal for the new space. |

Applied Handling's Solution
Following a review of unit load information and predicted inventory and average turns, a building was specified utilizing storage racks to support wall and roof panels, refrigeration equipment, and sprinkler and lighting equipment. Design compliance with Zone IV seismic conditions and RMI ensured that permits for this "unusual" structure could be easily secured. A somewhat uneasy client quickly recognized the benefits and effectiveness of this type of structure. |
